The Indiana Pacers need to quit jerking Roy Hibbert around

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 8 June 2010 at 1:06 pm

The Pacers need to just start 23-year old center Roy Hibbert and start playing him 30+ minutes a night. He is a huge man at 7′2″, 278 pounds and he can throw his weight around inside. Hibbert played in 81 games (69 starts) for the Pacers last season and he averaged 25.1 minutes, 11.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.6 blocked shots per night. He has now played in 151 games (110 starts) in his two years with the Pacers and he has averaged 20.2 minutes, 9.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.4 blocked shots per game. The Pacers need to quit jerking Hibbert around and let him play.

The Indiana Pacers acquire a 2nd round pick from the Mavericks

Blogged under General, The Draft Report, Bloglockers, Big Pacers News, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 3 June 2010 at 8:15 am

The Indiana Pacers have acquired the 57th overall pick (2nd round) of the NBA Draft later this month from the Mavs to complete the Eddie Jones and Shawne Williams trade. Players can be found in the 2nd round so the Pacers need to do their homework on this one. The Pacers need all of the help that they can get.

The Indiana Pacers painted themselves into a corner so they won’t be active this summer

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Big Pacers News, Front Page by alleyoop on Saturday 29 May 2010 at 10:52 am

The Indiana Pacers will have almost the whole roster back in 2010-11 unless they make some trades. This was just flat out bad planning as the best free agent summer in the history of the NBA is available and the Pacers will likely be on the sideline. They only have two free agents of their own this summer in Earl Watson and Luther Head. The Pacers might need Watson back due to A.J. Price’s injury but that’s only if he doesn’t get a good offer this summer. Luther Head isn’t someone that the Pacers will go out of the way to bring back but they could do worse.

A.J. Price will be out 4-6 months for the Indiana Pacers

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Big Pacers News, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Monday 24 May 2010 at 11:00 pm

23-year old point guard A.J. Price will miss the next 4-6 months after he needed surgery to repair a fractured kneecap which he injured in a charity game. He does not have a fully guaranteed contract for the 2010-11 season but I don’t expect them to consider letting him go. He played in 56 games (2 starts) as a rookie last season for the Pacers and he averaged 15.4 minutes, 7.3 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. The Pacers are hoping that he will be ready to start the 2010-11 season.

T.J. Ford is coming back to the Indiana Pacers in 2010-11

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 13 May 2010 at 5:16 pm

27-year old point guard T.J. Ford is without a doubt going to pick up his player option for the 2010-11 season as there is no way a team would give him that much money on the open market. Ford played in 47 games (32 starts) for the Pacers last season and he averaged 25.3 minutes, 10.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. Because of his size (6′0″, 165 pounds) it always seems as if Ford gets beat up a lot. He has now played in 374 games (303 starts) in his NBA career (7 years) and he is averaging 29.2 minutes, 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Ford is by far the best point guard the Pacers have so they should just play him until he gets hurt.
