The Indiana Pacers’ rookies were hit and miss in 2010-11

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 15 April 2011 at 3:19 pm

20-year old SG/SF Paul George really played well this year for the Pacers. He played in 61 games (19 starts) for the Pacers last year and he averaged 20.7 minutes, 7.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Next year is likely the one in which George will get a real shot at winning the starting job at shooting guard. 20-year old shooting guard Lance Stephenson was so immature that he kept getting into trouble with his bosses and it kept him off the basketball court. Stephenson played in 12 games (0 starts) for the Pacers this year and he averaged 9.6 minutes, 3.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Stephenson only shot 33.3% from the floor (13 of 39 last year) and until that improves, the Pacers aren’t going to overlook his bad behavior.

The Indiana Pacers like the look of their rookie class

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Sunday 6 March 2011 at 12:58 pm

20-year old SG/SF Paul George has the look of a starter in the near future for the Pacers. He has played in 41 games (0 starts) for the Pacers so far this year and he is averaging 19.3 minutes, 8.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. The Pacers have him coming off the bench but he’s already a better player than Brandon Rush (the Pacers’ current starting shooting guard) so it’s only a matter of time before he’s starting. 20-year old shooting guard Lance Stephenson has finally been activated by the Pacers. He has played in 5 games (0 starts) for the Pacers so far this year and he is averaging 14.6 minutes, 4.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. But, he’s only shooting 32% from the floor as he looks a tad rusty right now. George & Stephenson could wind up being building blocks for the Pacers down the road as they both have game.

The Indiana Pacers need more from their rookies

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 14 January 2011 at 8:08 pm

20-year old SG/SF Paul George is starting to warm up a bit lately for the Pacers. In his last three games, George is averaging 14.3 minutes, 9.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game on 53.8% shooting from the floor. Overall this year, George has played in 15 games (0 starts) in which he is averaging 14.3 minutes, 5.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. The Pacers might be able to find some minutes for George is he continues to play like he is right now. 20-year old SG Lance Stephenson hasn’t made it to the court so far this year as he has had some issues to deal with off the court.

The rookies are nailed to the bench for the Indiana Pacers

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 21 December 2010 at 7:11 pm

20-year old SG/SF Paul George is buried on the Pacers’ depth chart right now. George has played in 8 games (0 starts) for the Pacers so far this year and he is averaging 16.5 minutes, 4.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He is only shooting 34.1% from the floor and he is 7 of 25 (28%) from three point range, so he isn’t likely to start seeing more minutes unless he starts hitting some shots. 20-year old SG Lance Stephenson isn’t likely to get much P.T. this year for the Pacers due to his off the court problems.

The Indiana Pacers are taking it slow with Paul George

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 16 November 2010 at 5:28 pm

20-year old SG/SF Paul George is likely going to be brought along slowly by the Pacers who have a lot of players ahead of him on the depth chart. George played in 6 games (0 starts) for the Pacers so far this year and is averaging 17.7 minutes, 6.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. George is only shooting 38.2% from the floor and he likely won’t see an increase in P.T. unless he starts shooting better.
