The Indiana Pacers lose George Hill indefinitely

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Big Pacers News, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Wednesday 1 February 2012 at 4:29 pm

The Pacers will be without backup guard George Hill indefinitely as he has a small chip fracture in his left ankle. He has played in 19 games (0 starts) for the Pacers so far this year and he is averaging 24.7 minutes, 9.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game. With Hill out of action, the Pacers need 21-year old Lance Stepenson to step up. He has played in 17 games (0 starts) for the Pacers so far this year and he is averaging 8.8 minutes, 2.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Stephenson is only shooting a paltry 34.1% from the floor so far this year, which is pathetic.

The Pacers have acquired 29-year old power forward Louis Amundson from the Golden State Warriors for 26-year old shooting guard Brandon Rush. Amundson played in 46 games (7 starts) for the Warriors last year and he averaged 15.0 minutes, 4.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. He has now played in 228 games (7 starts) in his NBA career so far and he is averaging 13.4 minutes, 4.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Amundson will bring a lot of energy off the bench for the Pacers in 2011-12. Rush played in 67 games (21 starts) for the Pacers last year and he averaged 26.2 minutes, 9.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. He played in 224 games (104 starts) in his three years with the Pacers and he averaged 27.0 minutes, 8.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. The Pacers have been trying to get rid of Rush for some time now, so they probably jumped to make this deal when it was offered to them.

The Pacers have used the amnesty clause to waive 34-year old small forward James Posey. Posey played in 49 games (0 starts) for the Pacers last year and he averaged 17.1 minutes, 4.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. He has now played in 864 games (479 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 26.9 minutes, 8.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game. The Pacers won’t miss Posey too much as Paul George will gobble up his minutes in 2011-12.

The Indiana Pacers sign David West

The Pacers have signed 31-year old power forward David West for a 2-year, $20 million dollar deal. West played in 70 games (all starts) for the Hornets last year and he averaged 35.0 minutes, 18.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steal per game. He has now played in 530 games (438 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 32.4 minutes, 16.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. This was a solid move for the Pacers as West will team with Roy Hibbert and Danny Granger to give them a very nice frontcourt in 2011-12.

The Indiana Pacers re-sign Jeff Foster

The Pacers have re-signed 34-year old center Jeff Foster to a 1-year deal. He has now played in 753 games (345 starts) in his first 12 years in the NBA (all with the Pacers) and he is averaging 20.7 minutes, 4.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. The Pacers were smart to bring back Foster as he will be a solid backup for Roy Hibbert in 2011-12.
