The Indiana Pacers sign Stephen Graham

Blogged under Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 4 July 2007 at 11:24 pm

The Pacers have signed Stephen Graham to a 1-year deal.  He will have an uphill battle to make the Pacers roster in 2007.  He played in 14 games (1 start) for the Trailblazers and he averaged 3.2 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.  He shot 42.5% from the floor, 27.3% from three point range and 88.9% from the free throw line.

Graham has now played two seasons in the NBA and his career now covers 36 games (1 start) in which he has averaged 2.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.  Graham has averaged 9.4 minutes, 2.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.  He has hit 40.4% from the floor, 23.8% from three point range and 91.7% from the free throw line.

Good signing. Just needs a shot at playing in the system. Caught an NDBL game of his on NBA TV. He can bring the ball up the floor like a point forward, run the 2 spot, and play the 3 spot. I think he can pull through. His first NBA preseason with the Spurs was successful, other than the fact that they didn’t have a roster spot for him. His last preseason game with the team he had 8 points, playing mostly in the first quarter with many of the regulars from this year championship team. A couple of my insiders in the Spurs camp told me that at the end of a practice two years ago, the team held a one on one tourney. Steve and Finley made it to the final, with Finley winning, not a bad feat.

It will be interesting to see if Graham can get much playing time because the Pacers have a lot of veterans ahead of him on the depth chart.
