The Pacers shot well from the floor hitting 53.6% from the floor as a team and that’s why they won tonight.  Jamaal Tinsley led the way for the Pacers with 28 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals.  Jermaine O’Neal also had a great all-around game with 25 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocked shots.

Will big trade give Pacers a chance in the East?

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 30 January 2007 at 3:05 pm

The Pacers are sitting at 23-21 on the season, just 3 games out in the Central Division and 3.5 games behind the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference.  Jermaine O’Neal is what makes this team go.  He’s averaging 19.4 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists this season and those numbers could even get better because of the trade.  Danny Granger has moved into the starting lineup after the trade and he’s averaging 12.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.  Those numbers should increase due to the rise in playing time for him.  The Pacers need Jamaal Tinsley to improve his shooting (38.3% from the floor) or to start passing more.  He’s averaging 12.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game.  The newcomers, Mike Dunleavy and Troy Murphy have moved right into the starting lineup for the Pacers.  Dunleavy is starting at shooting guard and he’s averaged 12.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists in the five games he’s played for the Pacers.  The Pacers will need more than that from Dunleavy if they are to get where they want to be this season.  Troy Murphy has been pretty good since he got to Indiana.  He’s averaging 9.8 points, 10.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game since coming over.  The Pacers need a tad more offense from him.

The Pacers need the key players off the bench to give them more this season.  Ike Diogu and Marquis Daniels are great athletes but they have not converted that into results.  Diogu is averaging 6.1 points and 2.0 rebounds and Marquis Daniels is averaging 6.0 points per game.  The Pacers need more from those two guys.  Jeff Foster has done a good job this season and will be coming off the bench the rest of the season.  He’s averaging 4.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game and the Pacers will need that to continue.  The ancient Darrell Armstrong (4.3 points) will need to give the Pacers quality minutes behind Tinsley.

The Pacers fall short in 95-87 loss to the Pistons in Detroit

The Pacers played good defense allowing the Pistons to only hit 37% from the floor, but it didn’t matter last night.  Jermaine O’Neal led the way for the Pacers with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.  Jamaal Tinsley also had a solid game with 18 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals.  Danny Granger scored 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
