Pacers beat Knicks 109-95

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Sunday 5 November 2006 at 9:17 am

The Pacers incredible depth had everyone well rested for the 4th quarter, and the Pacers blew the Knicks out 32-19 in that quarter to win the game.  Al Harrington was a monster on the court as he threw in 32 points and snagged 7 rebounds.  Jermaine O’Neal had a solid game with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.  Jamaal Tinsley only scored 8 points, but he dished out 14 sacks.  Sarunas Jasikevicius (16 points), Darrell Armstrong (13 points) and Stephen Jackson (10 points) all pitched in on offense.

This was another good win, as the Pacers are looking good.

Power Forwards

Al Harrington has been brought back to the Pacers after he blossomed in Atlanta last season.  Harrington averaged 18.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game last year.  Harrington is an athletic player that likes to go to the rim.  For his career, Harrington has averaged 12.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.

Look for Jermaine O’Neal to slide over from the center position when Harrington is out of the game.

Maceo Baston could get some minutes at power forward but he hasn’t had much of a chance to prove anything in the NBA yet.  He has averaged 2.5 points and 1.4 rebounds in 16 career games.

Josh Powell is another young player that could get some minutes at some point in the year.  Powell has averaged 3.0 points and 2.2 rebounds in 37 career games.

Pacers lose 100-91 to Hornets

The Pacers got out-scored 31-19 in the 4th quarter to lose Friday night at home.  Jermaine O’Neal had a huge game scoring 25 points, grabbing 6 rebounds and blocking 5 shots.  Stephen Jackson (14 points), Jamaal Tinsley (12 points), Darrell Armstrong (11 points) and Danny Granger (10 points) all pitched in on offense.

This kind of loss hurts a team for awhile.

Pacers win road game over Bobcats 106-99

The Pacers had 8 players that played at least 20 minutes and that wore down the Bobcats in the Pacers victory.  Jermaine O’Neal (20 points), Sarunas Jasikevicius (20 points) and Stephen Jackson (18 points) were the only Pacers that scored in double figures.  The Pacers were stealing the ball like mad men from the Bobcats as Jermaine O’Neal (2), Stephen Jackson (4), Jamaal Tinsley (3), Jeff Foster (4) and Sarunas Jasikevicius (1) got alot of easy points for the team in the transition game.  This was a perfect example of good team basketball by the Pacers.

Shooting Guards

The Pacers are growing a little tired of Stephen Jackson’s antics.  He will get to start the season as the starter, but Rick Carlisle could have a short hook if Jackson doesn’t start to behave on and off of the court.  Jackson is a decent player, but the Pacers would be better served if he were the sixth man.  Jackson has averaged 13.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game.  Jackson is a good player, but he’s a little selfish on the court.

The Pacers made a huge trade to pry Marquis Daniels away from the Mavericks.  Daniels has the skills that make scouts drool.  Daniels is an excellent open court play that likes to get to the rack.  Daniels is a good shooter from inside the 3-point line as he hits 46.9% of his FGs.  Daniels has only averaged 23.7 minutes per game in his career to date, but that should increase on the Pacers.  Daniels has averaged 9.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
